Free Online Digital Compass
Forgot your physical compass at home? Our free Online Compass turns your smartphone into a highly accurate navigational tool. Whether you are hiking, camping, surveying land, or just trying to find True North, this tool uses your device’s built-in magnetometer sensors to provide real-time directional data. No app download or installation required—works directly in your mobile browser.
How to Use the Online Compass
- Tap the “Start Compass” button above.
- If prompted by your browser (especially on iOS/iPhone), click “Allow” to grant motion sensor access.
- Hold your phone flat in your hand, parallel to the ground.
- The red pointer will show your exact heading. The digital readout below will display your precise degree and cardinal direction (North, South, East, West).
Troubleshooting & Accuracy Tips
- Calibration: If the needle seems stuck or inaccurate, move your phone in a figure-8 pattern in the air to calibrate the magnetometer.
- Interference: Keep your phone away from magnets, laptops, or metal objects, as they will interfere with the Earth’s magnetic field and cause false readings.
- Desktop Users: Desktop computers and laptops do not have magnetometer sensors. This tool is designed for mobile phones and tablets only.
